RISING EARLY (BANGUN AWAL)

BENEFITS OF RISING EARLY

Feeling tired at work and falling asleep because you always stay up so late at night watching TV show or surfing the internet? There is no better way to start off your day than to wake up early. With a renewed morning ritual, it will give you a head start and you will get so much done before 8 am.

Be precise and strict about your bed time and stop the distracting activities one hour before that. One of the ways to go to bed early is to close off activities that will distract you to stay up late including television shows, video games and social media, you name it, face book?

Switching from being a night owl to an early riser has so many benefits that you will never go back. Here are just a few:

1) Greet the day
Every day, think as you wake up, 'today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightment for the benefit of all beings, I am going to have kind thought towards others, I am not going to get angry. I am going to benefit from the day as much as I can.

2) Quietude
The early morning hours are so peaceful, so quite. No kids yelling, no babies crying, no soccer balls, no cars, no television noise. It should be your favourite time of day where you can enjoy that time of peace to yourself - to think, read and breathe.

3) Sunrise
People who wake late miss one of the greatest feats of nature - the rising the sun. You will enjoy how the day slowly get brighter,  when the midnight blue turns to lighter blue, and see how mother nature get painted in incredible colours, and say: "What a glorious day!"

4) Breakfast
Rise early and you actually have time for breakfast, which is one of the most important meals of the day. Without breakfast, your body is running on empty until lunchtime when most people eat whatever unhealthy things they can find - fatty and sugary food. Eating breakfast while reading a book, and drinking coffee in the quite of the morning is eminently more enjoyable.

5) Exercise
There are other times to exercise besides the early morning, of course, but you will find that while exercising right after work is liable to be canceled because of other things that come up. Morning exercise is virtually never canceled.

6) Productivity
Mornings, are the most productive time of day where you can do some writing without distractions, before you check your e-mail or blog stats. You will get so much more done by starting your work in the morning. Then, when evening rolls around, you would have finished most of your work, and you can spend quality time with your family.

7) Goal time
Got goals? Well, you should. There is no better time to review and plan for them and do the task first thing in the day. You should have a goal that you want accomplish every week. In the morning you should decide one thing you can do today to move closer towards your goal.

8) Commute
No one likes rush-hour traffic. Commute early, when the traffic is much lighter and you get to work faster, thus saving more time and energy. Or better yet, commute by bike or work from home.

9) Appointment
It is much easier to make early appointments on time if you get up early. Showing up late for those appointment is a bad signal to the person you are meeting. Showing up early will impress them, plus you get time to prepare.

  1. How to Become an Early Riser
Start slowly by walking just 15-30 minutes earlier than usual. Get used to this for a few days. Then cut back another 15 minutes. Do this gradually until you get to your goal time.

  2. #Allow yourself to sleep earlier. You may be used to staying up late, perhaps watching TV or surfing internet, but by going to bed earlier, if you are really tired you may just fall asleep sooner than later.
#Put your alarm clock far from your bed. If it is right next to your bed, you have to get up out of bed to shut it off. By then, you are up.
#Go out of the bedroom as soon as you shut off the alarm. Don't allow yourself to rationalise going back to bed. Just force yourself to go out of the room.
#Do not rationalise. If you allow your brain to talk you out of getting up early, you will never do it. Don't make getting back in bed an option.
#Have a good reason. Set something to do early in the morning that is important enough to motivate you to get up.
#Make waking up early a reward. If you make it pleasureable, soon you will look forward to waking up early. A good reward is to make a hot cup of coffee or tea, and read a book. For Muslim, read Quran is the best choice.
#Take advantage of all that extra time. Don't wake up early and waste that extra time. Get a jump start on your day! By the time it is 6.30pm, you would done more than many people the entire day.
